LUFTHANSA TEKNIC’S PARTNERSHIP WITH MERCEDES
Lufthansa Technik and Mercedes-Benz Style presented for the first time a final version of a joint study on cabin completion. The two companies took advantage of the event to officially launch this product for Airbus or Boeing type aircraft. Led by a team of Lufthansa Technik engineers, the initial design concept started in 2015 and was gradually updated to best match the requirements in terms of airworthiness and certification. NBAA visitors had the chance to see the complete cabin in a virtual 3D presentation at the Lufthansa Teknic stand. A full-scale psychical 3D model and material samples of cabin surfaces accompanied the presentation of this relatively unique product on the VIP aircraft market. “We’ve developed a completely new space concept that goes beyond conventional cabin space design,” stated Gorden Wagener, Head of Design of Daimler AG, prior to adding: “This enables passengers to experience the Mercedes-typical modern luxury in all its aspects, because the design is both emotional and intelligent.” The cabin features a modern design combined with latest communication systems. The unique helix structure, a dynamic spiral layout, is the central design theme extending from the entrance all the way to the bedroom. The VIP aircraft, which could seat 150 passengers in airline configuration, is designed for 16 VIP passengers. The entrance area in the front features a welcoming, open entrée, a kitchen (galley) for live cooking and a séparée as well as a VIP bathroom (lavatory). In the aft part of the cabin a separate entertainment zone has been combined with the en-suite private area. The open design of the bath- and bed room is a distinct feature conceived around a free standing shower with transparent side walls.
